Rougen up surfaces with 80 grit to accept the epoxy. Epoxy a thin piece of fiberglass to the size of the opening, and cut it out to match the opening, then use fiberglass mat soaked in JB weld to fill in the missing pieces and grind to size. You can paint it all black to match, then bolt up to the stack. I would tape off the screens at both ends to avoid the dust getting into the element, and clean it off with MAF cleaner when you're done.
